Silvia in VELONES IN ACTION – Silvia en VELONES IN ACTION

He sido muy honrada, pues la artista Maria Davou del grupo Velones in Action me ha incluido en su nota sobre artistas “extremadamente talentosos”.
En griego, la palabra “velones” significa agujas. Velones in Action es un grupo de mujeres que trabajan 100% a mano, como lo hago yo.

I am very honored, because artist Maria Davou from the group, Velones in Action, has featured me in her daily notes about “extremely talented” artists.
In Greek, the word “velones” means needles. It is a group of women who work 100% by hand such as myself.

Diseño geométrico – Geometric design

Para quienes les gusten las Mándalas, he estado jugueteando con diseños aplicables al tema “hoja y bosque”, con el colorido de Octágono y, por supuesto, con reciclaje en mente.

For those who like Mandalas, I’ve been playing with design that is applicable to the theme, “leaf and forest,” with Octagono’s usual color and, of course!, with recycling in mind.

El diseño empieza con compás y transportador y paciencia.

Design starts with compass and transporter and ruler and patience and pencil and eraser and patience!

Puede ser aplicado a una obra cuadrada, o redonda. It may be applied to a square or round piece.

Arte: ¡al rescate! – ART: TO THE RESCUE!

Éste ha sido el “año del desconecte”, ya que varias personas decidieron mudarse a otras esferas y descontinuar su trabajo en la Galería.
Sin embargo, gracias al trabajo de voluntarios y a un gran esfuerzo de mi parte, hemos logrado diseñar y preparar arte en el rescate de materiales variados: papel, cartulinas y tela. He aquí­ algunas fotos.

This has been the “year of disconnection,” because various people decided to move on to other spheres and discontinue working at the Gallery.
However, thanks to volunteer work and great effort on my part, we have managed to design and prepare rescue art made out of paper, card stock, and fabric. Here are some pics.

Además del trabajo de reciclaje, estamos preparando talismanes con mensajes de empoderamiento, especialmente para víctimas de abuso.

Aside from recycling, we’re preparing talismans bearing empowering messages, especially for victims of abuse.
